dan sekarang aku datang lagi, sambil berkata dalam hati," Okay, ga masalah..here i come again,"

Ika Krismantari, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta
The
traffic and the crowds were the same last Saturday evening in the "old
town" area of Kota, but for 52 people on a Komunitas Historia tour, it
was a night to remember.
Mothers escaping routines, a newly married couple, a six-year-old boy,
several teenagers, professionals and history enthusiasts all learned a
great deal about Jakarta’s fascinating history.
"I never knew that in the past, Dutch ships crossed this dirty and
polluted river," said Irwan, 27, pointing to the Kali Besar River,
formerly known as the Groote Kanal, running to the north of the Fatahillah Museum, or the Jakarta History Museum in English.
An accountant in a medical company from Pulo Gading, East Jakarta, and
his new wife said they took the trip to do something interesting in the
weekends.
"My friend, who is a member of the (Kota) community, told me about this trip," he said.
The couple got people to take many pictures of them using the heritage sites as backdrops.
Meanwhile, two interested mothers listened carefully to the historical
information provided by the guide. They said taking the tour was more
enjoyable than accompanying their teenage children to malls.
"I have always been curious about where the Dutch colonials punished
the convicts," a 36-year-old mother, Sisie, said. "I told my daughter I
could not accompany her to the mall tonight because I wanted to find
out the answer on this trip."
The executions, she was later told, were carried out front of the Fatahillah Museum.
Accompanied by her sister, Sandra, Sisie said she found the tour fascinating, especially the old Bank Mandiri building.
"It’s hard to believe that this beautiful building was once surrounded by water canals," she said.
The youngest member of the entourage, Bimo, had many questions to ask
to his mother, aunt and the tour guide after seeing men and women
wearing traditional Chinese and Dutch costumes inside the museum acting
as bank employees and customers.
"I’m happy that he came with me. It will benefit him in the future,"
Bimo’s mother, Iis, 38, said. "There is no history subject in the new
curriculum, I hope he learns something on this trip."
All of the participants said the tour was well worth the Rp 100,000 fee.
A 21-year-old woman, Dinar, said she especially enjoyed seeing the Jembatan Kota Intan bridge built in 1628.
"This is so much fun compared to going to malls," Dinar, who joined the trip with five friends, said.
For its next tour, Komunitas Historia plans to trace the legacy of
Pangeran Jayakarta, a former Jakarta king, in Jatinegara Kaung, East
Jakarta.

aku tak ambil pusing, segera aku hampiri dirimu…

dia hanya diam.
setahun kemudian, dia datang kembali dan memberi ku kaset puisi lagu Sapardi Djoko Damono yang salah satu lagunya tentang hujan bulan juni…
kangen hujan, kangen kamu, kangen jogja…

Mas1: "Wah, saya gak punya pulsa nih," Aku: "Bukan gitu, saya pinjam hp-nya aja nanti pakai kartu saya," Mas1: "Wah ga bisa mba, lihat deh Hp saya" dan dia pun menunjukan HP tahun jebot Nokia 5110 yang sudah diplester di sana-sini…Okey, i’ll take that as an answer…sambil tak lupa berkata terima kasih tentunya.
Usaha kedua: "Mas bisa minta tolong hp saya baterenya habis, saya bisa pinjem pesawatnya aja?" Mas2: "Wah, saya gak punya hp, mbak!" Aku: …speechles…
SMS pun terkirim. Tak sampai sedetik tiba-tiba seorang tukang kue mencolekku," Mba dicari tuh," Oh ya ampun ojek cintaku… "Wah, sudah dikirim mba?" "Iya sudah"jawabnya "Wah makasih yah mbak ternyata udah dateng orangnya…"
dan…aku pun tersenyum…
sesampai ditujuan aku mengsms mbaknya lewat Hp ojek cintaku yang ternyata menerima sms darinya "Mba, ini ika lagi, saya mau mengucapkan terima kasih atas kebaikannya, Tuhan berkati" dan beberapa menit kemudian ada sms masuk "Iya sama-sama, God bless you too,"
buat ojek cintaku: wah kamu memang hebat, tahu benar dimana diriku berada…;)

Ika Krismantari The Jakarta Post, Jakarta
Nala, 23, has a simple wish for his love life: He wants people to know that he has a girlfriend whom he dearly loves.
To Nala, graffiti helps him demonstrate his love and so he writes the name of his loved one "Frea" on public walls.
"Tonight, I want to make it (the graffiti) on the wall of Grogol
overpass, in front of our campus. I want her to see it tomorrow as a
gift for our second anniversary," Nala told The Jakarta Post before executing his mission.
That night at midnight, Nala with four other graffiti artists headed
for their targeted location to execute their mission: actualizing their
existence on the walls of Jakarta’s public spaces.
"To exist is the experience graffiti artists are after. Existence is
the only reason why we are doing all these things," said one of Nala’s
graffiti buddies Ones, 25.
In Jakarta, graffiti has found its niche on the walls of public spaces;
such as on overpass’ pillars and walls along underpasses.
In 2001, in line with the JakArt@2001 program the overpass in Kuningan,
South Jakarta and underpass in Ramawangun, East Jakarta were
transformed by murals and graffiti.
Since then, graffiti has becoming a part of the face of Jakarta and
more blank walls have been turned into colorful paintings.
However, Ones said he has seen the rapid growth of graffiti in terms of volume, but not quality.
"Today, not only junior or high school students but almost everyone
wants to make graffiti for their own reasons, either personal or
political," said Ones, who started as a graffiti artist in 2001,
referring to writing with political messages, such as "arrest
corruptors", "say no to fuel hike" on public spaces.
"It is fine with me because everybody has the right to express his or
her feelings, but what disappoints me is that they all tend to neglect
the quality and have no sense of art. It is simply messy writing on the
walls," Ones said.
Jakartans are not as excited as they used to be when they see a bunch of boys and girls busy making graffiti.
"Two years ago, when we were making graffiti, a lot of people stopped
to watch the process but now there are none," Ones recalled.
"The artists, including me, have the same feeling, when I see new graffiti, I just don’t care anymore."
"I don’t blame those amateurish artists but what they are doing doesn’t
seem right. We want to entertain, not irk people when they look at our
graffiti," Ones said. "We have a commitment and standards to make
graffiti an artwork."
To implement the commitment and share the standards among Jakarta’s
graffiti artists, Ones and friends decided to establish a group –
comprising graffiti clubs such as Artcoholic, Morden, Elastic,
Fantastic, Sam — under the Web site www.tembokbomber.com in 2004.
"Through our Web site we can share information about a lot of things,
including the latest graffiti art and new techniques," Ones said.
"From the site, I also found out that someone has imitated my graffiti.
They are making graffiti which is similar to mine," Ones said, who puts
the signature "yeah" on his works.
"I don’t mind people being inspired by my works but it also means there will be less room to express our art," he said.
Therefore, he added, the Web site also provides information on vacant walls that can be used.
"We do hope that someday the Jakarta administration will legalize our
activity and provide us with spaces to make graffiti because what we
are doing is simply beautifying the face of the city with our colorful
artwork," Ones said, adding that the artists were still working at
night to avoid encounters with public order officials.
Ones highlighted that graffiti was not a form of vandalism. "We always
ask people whether or not they mind it, if they do, we will erase it,
he said,"But so far, there have not been any complaints about our
graffiti,"
He added that the administration needed to change their perception of graffiti to turn to Jakarta into a beautiful city.
"Look what happens in Europe and other countries, they give special
spaces for artists and writers to express their feelings, but here,
officials do not know how graffiti can support the government’s drive
to make the city a better place," Ones said, citing a case in 2001 when
the Jakarta administration painted over graffiti under Kuningan
overpass only two weeks after it was done.(09)
