kalian menamakannya: "mengejar senja"

Tapi, sayang
aku ingin pergi ke negeri senja itu
bawa aku kesana, denganmu!

Mari kita hidupkan permainan lagi

"I promise you that I’ll play differently and beautifully…and, come on you know it for sure that I am a better player than she is…:)"

nb: makasih buat SIM-A-nya yah!

kamu bakal menemukannya bahkan sebelum kamu masuk kedalamnya..

monyet benar!

A woman’s place is at the mall - men, you can park around the back
Tuesday, July 18, 2006

Ika Krismantari, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

"I wish I were a woman," said 26-year-old private television employee Iwan Suhadi.

This was not a request for extreme surgery, nor did it precede a
decision to buy a pair of high heels. It was the result of the stress
involved in getting a parking place at a mall.

Iwan had tried to pull into a spot at the Mal Pondok Indah (PIM) I
parking lot, only to be met by a security officer pointing to a sign
that said "Ladies Driver (sic) Reserved Parking".

"We started the service in May, as part of PIM’s promotional program,"
PIM promotion and marketing supervisor Eve Sasongko told The Jakarta Post on Monday.

She said management had decided to provide the facility to attract more visitors, particularly women, to PIM.

"We know that women love to shop, but it’s well known that people have
a hard time parking their vehicles at PIM. With this campaign, we’re
trying to change that image in the minds of female visitors by
providing them with a strategic site to park their vehicles," Eve said.

Two
sites, each with a capacity of 100 cars, have been put aside for the
purpose, one near the main entrance of PIM I and the other near the
lower ground entrance of PIM II.

Five parking attendants are stationed at each site, which are
surrounded by traffic cones, to help female drivers. The service is
only available on weekdays.

"We have received good responses from our visitors, especially women.
In fact, our latest data shows visitors have increased by 6 percent
since May," Eve said.

Around 7,000 people visit PIMs I and II on weekdays, a number that
swells to 10,000 or more on weekends. About 70 percent of visitors are
women.

"Women always love to get special treatment. I am very excited about
this service. It makes me want to go to this mall more often. I wish
all malls provided this kind of facility," said 27-year-old Yasminda
Sari.

Not everyone is as pleased by the service as Yasminda, however.

"It is a gender-biased service. It’s also cheesy because it contradicts
the spirit of emancipation, where women are encouraged to be equal to
men," Agus Budiardjo, 28, told the Post

PIM parking management supervisor Sugiyanta said the mall had received
many complaints about the service, mainly from men demanding equal
treatment.

He said his officers had also had to confront male drivers trying to park in the special area.

"We explain to them that this was a decision made by top management,
and give them directions to other available parking spaces, or suggest
they switch seats with their female partners," Sugiyanta said.

Agus said this was not a solution, as far as he was concerned.

"It will take me longer to park my car," he said, adding that PIM had turned itself into a bureaucracy.

Rendy, 25, another mall visitor, said, "The regulations are not clear
yet. The mall should specify a target. It is OK by me if the service
were for a woman over 35 with three children, but for a single
20-year-old girl who just wants to window-shop? I just don’t think it’s
appropriate."

"Like in foreign countries, the mall should provide the service to the
disabled, or to old people, who deserve it more," he said.

Eve said the management was aware of the negative reaction male visitors had had to the service.

"But our program was made purposely for women, because it is women who shop. Men just follow them," she said.

PIM II parking operator assistant manager Asep Sofyan said the
regulation was reasonable because women were identified with malls.

"The deserve special treatment in malls because they are the ones who like to shop," he said.

Mall management has yet to decide whether it will extend the women-only parking lots.

"We have just extended the operation period. The service should have
finished in June, but we’re going to continue to offer it because of
all the positive responses," Eve said.

To give or not to
give: The city’s moral dilemma

Saturday, July 15,
2006

Ika Krismantari, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

Ten-year-old Putri, with her pink hair clip, bright-green-and-yellow
earrings and yellow flip-flops is the essence of casual as she goes about her
daily work — asking for money from drivers at the busy Tanah Abang
intersection in Central Jakarta.

She takes her work lightly and seems to be accustomed to being rejected and
told to go away.

Move to the south, to Pejompongan junction, and there are scores of other
Putris, skipping between the cars, barefoot and in worn-out clothes.

Some of them have been working at the crossroads for three years, and almost
all of them started because their families fell into financial difficulties.

But how do we complete their stories?

"I will give them money, even if it is only Rp 500, because I know that
they need it so much," said a private bank officer, Nuni, 28, whose car
passes the Pejompongan crossroads every day.

"Giving street children money is not a good solution. Streets have
never been a good place for children. When we give them money, we nurture them
to stay on the street," Fabio Valentino, a program manager of the Stop
Giving Money To Children social organization, told The Jakarta Post.

Fabio, also an activist with nonprofit group Sahabat Anak, said the streets
have a serious impact on children’s psychological development.

"Living on the street means that the children have a greater likelihood
of being exposed to violence, physical abuse and exploitation," Fabio
said.

To protect street children, Sahabat Anak, which was established in 1997,
provides shelters, learning community centers and scholarships to get them away
from the streets.

The problem is, however, that children often still return to there, Fabio
said.

"They like it there because they can earn money easily," he said.

Therefore, in 2005, Sahabat Anak, along with other NGOs, launched Stop
Giving Money to Street Children, which was in line with UNICEF’s program to
lift up the lives of street children.

"We will intensify the popularization of the program this year, knowing
that last year not so many people knew about it," Fabio said.

His organization estimates that Indonesians give coins worth Rp 1.5 billion
(US$164,385) to a total of 75,000 street children across the country every day,
each of whom earns Rp 20,000 to Rp 30,000.

According to his group’s study, Fabio added, most street children did not
spend the money properly, instead using to by snacks and play games.

"In fact, the children may not necessary need the money because they
must give what they earn to their parents. Some parents make their children
money machines," Fabio said.

An official at the Jakarta Social Welfare Agency, Syaiman, told the Post
that poverty was at the root of the street child phenomenon.

"As a solution to financial problems, a lot of parents send their
children to the street to beg from passers-by and motorists," Syaiman
said.

The agency recorded that the number of street children in Jakarta reached
8,436 in 2005.

Raids and social workers have both been employed by the agency to deal with
the problem.

"When we get them, either through raids or a personal approach, we send
the kids to one of our shelters, where they can get an education and enough of
their basic needs," he said.

Currently, the agency has three shelters, located in Plumpang, North
Jakarta, Cengkareng, West Jakarta and Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.

"But the efforts remain futile. The children always return to the
streets, knowing that people, who continue to give them money, make the streets
a comfortable place for them to earn a living," he said.

The government launched Gerak Mapan, a program designed to discourage people
from giving money to street children or buying anything from them, in 2004. An
ordinance to support the movement is currently being drawn by the city
administration.

"With this, we can also teach the parents that it will be useless to
send their children to the streets," Syaiman said.

Fabio suggested public participation would help optimize such measures,
particularly if the public could be encouraged to take several concrete
actions.

"You can still give money to the children by collecting Rp 500 or Rp
1,000 every day and then donating the money to a trustworthy agency, which can
channel it wisely, or you could be an education volunteer for them," Fabio
said.

But it might be a little harder than that. As it turns out, most of the city
is easily moved by the sight of a small face at the car window.

"It (the program) will take time to happen, while they need the money
right away. I can’t just bear the look of those little kids," Sugiyanto,
38, a driver at the Tanah Abang crossroads said after giving Rp 1,000 to street
child.

Fabio offered another solution to buying one’s way out of the guilty feeling
caused by seeing children in the streets.

"Be their friends, say hello to them, offer them snacks, sweets, and
drinks, but don’t give them money," he said.

He added that by doing this, instead of throwing money at them, people will
eventually help street children like Putri toward a happy ending.

"I don’t want to be on the street forever. I am embarrassed whenever my
friends pass this street," Putri said.

Do you have a stranger in your life?

Well, I do

I met my stranger two years ago…

he don’t know me, i don’t know him

We have never met…

but we talked almost about everything; love, life, religion, future, books, children, hopes, dreams, frangipani, sport, lifestyle, bali, yogya…

Our conversation tangles us in a way that makes me know him even though we never meet

And yesterday, i called him, asking some stupid questions in relation to my article…

yups, i heard his voice…

we were so damn close at the moment…

but no, i could not see you…im afraid of lettting my self down, and disappointing you, knowing that im just me…

after all, i have mistified you for being an ideal figure that i admire so much…and i don’t want to ruin it just for a-two-hour rendevouz

lets keep the distance…just be my stranger…

that’s enough for me!

Minggu lalu aku bertemu dua perempuan hebat.

perempuan pertama, Ibu Sri Mulyani  Indrawati, Menteri Keuangan RI

the second woman, Ibu Mari Elka Pangestu, Indonesia’s Trade Minister
"Second some months ago, my 12 year old son asked me a simple question — which i am still unable to answer if from the excellent UNDP report. One fine day some months ago, as we were passing the poorer areas of Jakarta, he asked me very simple, "Mom, now that you are a minister, can’t you do something about those poor people?…"
at the launching of UNDP’s Asia-Pacific Regional Human Development report

tapi..layakkah aku mendapat penolakan darimu?

"WHAT?"

but, Brandon Routh the leading actor is totally hot, that body and tight costume…oh my god…

he is entertain me to some level, the level of girl fantasy..(well, you don’t want to know the rest, believe me!)
